About The Blog
The Aim of Five Pence Piece
Five Pence Piece is a British man’s blog about personal finance, saving, investment, debt and frugality.
Most of the popular blogs that discuss these topics tend to concentrate on the American markets. The general concepts and advice hold just fine, but when it comes to discussing specific products or concepts, it can cause issues. It is my hope that Five Pence Piece will at least in part, help address that gap for British readers. American readers might also learn something about the British financial system – I can safely say in my reading I now know more about the American system than I did a year ago.
The Beginning
The blog starts retrospectively, looking back at My Financial Meltdown and how I vowed to dig myself out, and never let myself get into that situation again. My long term goals are to prosper financially, buy my own home, and be financially astute, frugal and above all, financially sound.
The Purpose
Five Pence Piece also concentrates routinely on helping people get out of debt without resorting to things that can affect credit scores and wreck life plans. With simple adjustments I can show you how you can work your way out of debt and back towards prosperity. I know this works, because it’s exactly what I am doing.

Acknowledgments
I’d like to thank Trent over at The Simple Dollar for the inspiration to do this. In some ways we are much alike, albeit he is further ahead in his goals than I am. I’d also like to thank Five Cent Nickel for the inspiration on the naming of this blog and for making me believe it worthwhile.
I’d also like to thank djuce graphic design for the amazing logo that they very kindly donated to Five Pence Piece. If you need a graphics design company with excellent prices and amazing people, drop them a line. Considering they didn’t ask for a penny (or five pennies) for mine I think they did a stunning job. Thank you, Scott & Sarah.

Hi
This blog content is great, could i contribute to this, as a financial writer?
Regards,
Hey Lee! You’re back! When did you start writing regularly again? It’s been like 2 years since we last connected, until I saw your comment on 4/5 on my site today.
You back for good? I’m interested in learning more about the UK and would love to get more perspective on the insurance, healthcare, and taxation system there.
Thx,
Sam
Hey Sam! Nice to see you back!
I had almost a year off due to work and other life commitments, but I’m now back and have more of a drive than ever to pick up where I left off. I’ve been posting semi-regularly now for the last couple of weeks and already the traffic is picking up very nicely.
What topics in particular would you like covered? I’m open to suggestions! I’ve got a few lined up for the next few days but if I can stay a week ahead of myself, so much the better.
Great to hear from you
Lee
